God has
established the ultimate priorities for man to Glorify God by worship and
obedience. .
Ecc. 12:13
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his
commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. The fear of the Lord involves submission to
God’s absolute and authoritative truth in the Word, therefore fear God and
submit to His Word.
Prov. 2:1
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom,
and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest
after knowledge, and liftest up thy
voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and
searchest for her as for hid
treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and
find the knowledge of God. Wisdom is the correct and consistent
application of truth to the experiences of life. Use wisdom to apply Scripture to life. Prov. 4:20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine
ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep
them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
The
Scriptures are a handbook for Christian living.
Recognize your need for God’s wisdom. Prov. 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. The
wise person leads a disciplined life.
Practice self-discipline. Prov. 3:11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be
weary of his correction: 12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth;
even as a father the son in whom he
delighteth. The wise believer exhibits good character
and maintains a good reputation. Build good character and integrity.Prov. 22:1 A
good name is rather to be chosen
than great riches, and loving favour
rather than silver and gold. God’s way, sexual purity, is the way of
blessing while immorality is the way of destruction. Glorify God with your body. Prov. 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: 24 To
keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange
woman. God
resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Desire humility and disdain pride. Prov.11:2 When
pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. Diligent work, performed with proper motives,
glorifies God and provides a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Glorify God with properly motivated, diligent
work. Prov.22:9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be
blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor. Good stewardship includes generosity.
Give generously.
Prov. 11:24
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
Appropriate words may be profoundly simple. Choose your words wisely. Prov.15:23 A man hath joy by the answer of his
mouth: and a word spoken in due
season, how good is it! The
wise believer is truthful. Be honest in
words and motives.
22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight. God
expects us to be faithful friends. Be a
faithful friend.
Prov. 17:17
A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
