Responding Humbly to Christ and His Commission with Meekness

Almighty God You oversaw the history of mankind and prepared the world for the coming of Christ.  Let us trust and follow Your direction for our livesBut when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, You became a man in order that You might die to pay the penalty for the sin of mankind, help us to trust You only for salvation and growth in grace as Your disciples, following Your desire for all of mankind… and Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Your Gospels present viewpoints of Christ that help us understand Your life and mission, by Your grace help us to be a part of that mission for your local church, responding in the right way to the portraits of Christ in the Gospels.  Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

Lord Jesus You began building Your Church through the power of the Holy Spirit and willing, faithful believers.  Help me to be faithful, available, and teachable to spread the gospel worldwide.  You say to us in Your Word, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Lord, You expect believers to take the gospel around the world in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Despite obstacles, let us value and pray for your church leaders…          While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.”

Paul’s letters to Timothy and Titus give a firm Biblical foundation for the organization and operation of the local church, comprised of born again believers, by them we are to know and live out the doctrine of salvation…”if you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed.”

Lord Jesus, You offer salvation to the lost and then provide those who respond in faith with opportunities to grow and serve maintaining church unity and purity by the Spirit’s power…”therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Lord, You have given direction to the churches in addressing sin and false doctrine in our midst, we are to maintain church unity and purity by the Spirit’s power…”but I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

We understand from Your Word that you want the members of Your church to live holy lives and to grow in grace and in the knowledge of You being proactive in our sanctification...”I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Your Word has vital truths that give us guidance for godly living by valuing God’s Word as our guide for the Christian life…”count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Lord Jesus, You finished Your work of redemption on the cross and in Heaven You are caring out Your work of intercession on behalf of believers who have put their faith in You, our great high priest…”since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.”

We know that You expect Your churches to be committed to You upon Your return for them at the rapture living our lives in light of Christ’s return…”for God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

Father, You have a plan for the end times that will bring You Glory in a just and righteous manner praising the Lamb of God for eternal life…”then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,”

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,

to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might

and honor and glory and blessing!”

Early Morning Prayers

Ps. 5:3 O Yahweh, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will set forth my case to you and I will watch.

There is no value in “vain repetitions” (Matt.6:7).  These are for the birds.   Whether left wing or right wing, who cares?  They both flop on the same bird, nevertheless, there are some things that should be repeated and reviewed, and grace supplies the wind beneath the believer’s wings (1 Cor.11:23-26).  There are some prayers that should be included in early morning devotions.  These are as follows:

Prayer for the Fruit of the Spirit, and of the Saint

Gal.5:22,23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

IICor.2:14-17 14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ, and who reveals the fragrance of the knowledge of him through us in every place. 15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, 16 to those on the one hand an odor from death to death, and to those on the other hand a fragrance from life to life. And who is qualified for these things? 17 For we are not like the majority who peddle the word of God, but as from pure motives—but as from God—we speak before God in Christ.

Prov.11:30 30 The fruit of righteousness is a tree of life, and he who captures souls is wise.

Dear Father, through the empowering  control  of the Holy Spirit, deliver me from every covetous, self-expression of the flesh, and enable me to bear the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.  Merciful Lord, I once stood before Your Holy Presence deserving only Your blast of judgment, and yet, You offered in its place a Balm of favor and forgiveness.  By Your strength

today, may someone, who deserves only wrath, experience my compassion and may I introduce them to Your Saving Grace.  I also pray that I will be a wise winner of souls in that I shall ever enhance growth in grace and discipleship.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Early Morning Rx Ps.90:14 14 Satisfy us in the morning with your loyal love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Conquest of Satan

(Resistance)

1Peter 5:8, 9 Be sober; be on the alert. Your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in your faith, because you* know the same kinds of sufferings are being accomplished by your community of believers in the world.

Rev.12:11 11 And they conquered him by the blood of the Lamband by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives until death.

Eph.6:12 12 because our struggle is not against blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Formula

I do not belong to Satan anymore, I belong to the Lord Jesus Christ by right of creation and redemption.  Therefore, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the word of my testimony, and through the blood of the Lamb of God, I stand immovable by faith against you and resist you!  Reckoning myself dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God, I appropriate my position in the Lord Jesus Christ, turn from self-righteousness to divine righteousness,  and in the attitude of self-death and submission to God, I command you to flee from me!

Control of the Spirit

(Relationship)

Rom.12:1, 2 Therefore I exhort you, brothers, through the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may approve what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God.

IICor.3:18     18 And we all, with unveiled face, reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory into glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Luke 9:23   23 And he said to them all, “If anyone wants to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross every day and follow me.

Eph.5:18   18 And do not be drunk with wine (in which is dissipation), but be filled by the Spirit,

Rom.11:36 36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for eternity! Amen.

IICor.2:14 14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ, and who reveals the fragrance of the knowledge of him through us in every place.

 Rom.6:6, 11, 13

knowing this, that our old man was crucified together with him, in order that the body of sin may be done away with, that we may no longer be enslaved to sin.

11 So also you, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

13 and do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and your members to God as instruments of righteousness.

Formula

Holy Spirit, I come to you in my new nature to experience your continued control in my life.  By the food of the Word of God, and by the force of Your Power, let my personality become a garment through which You move among men to manifest the Lord Jesus Christ, and to accomplish His mission with His methods.  Use my body to pray the prayers, live the life, think the thoughts, work the works, and travel the trails of the Lord Jesus Christ to the glory of God the Father.

Prayer for Meekness & Humility

Matthew 11:28-30    28 Come to me, all of you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke on you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to carry and my burden is light.”

Lord, through the power of Your Holy Spirit, give me that easiness of spirit which results in a quiet, unembitter, non-angry composure when encountering the unpleasant, and which enables me to have the ability to actively withstand the provocations of pain, people, problems, pressure, persecution, providence, and prosperity.  Take away, from my heart, every kind and degree of pride.  Awaken in me the utmost depth and truth of Your Humility, and make Your lowliness not only known unto me, but also shown through me.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Good Health Prayer

(Request)

IIIJn.2   Dear friend, I pray you may prosper concerning everything and be healthy, just as your soul prospers.

Jn.10:10  The thief comes only so that he can steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and have it* abundantly.

ICor.10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or you drink or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.

Col.3:17    and everything whatever you do in word or in deed, giving thanks for all things in the name of the Lord Jesus to God the Father through him.

Phil. 4:5   Let your gentleness be made known to all people. The Lord is near.

Jas. 4:17   Therefore, to the one who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

Eph. 3:20  Now to the one who is able to do beyond all measure more than all that we ask or think, according to the power that is at work in us,

Jn.16:23, 24  23 And on that day you will ask me nothing. Truly, truly I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

Dear Father, I pray that I will not only have “life”, but also “life more abundantly”.  I also pray that it might please You, and best serve Your will to grant me general well- being and physical health to the same degree that my soul is getting along well.  I pray that I might be careful to maintain spiritual good health, and that I will exercise moderation in all things, live up to light possessed, trust God, and “whether therefore  (I) eat, or drink, or whatsoever (I) do, (I will) do all to the Glory of God”.  Finally, I pray that “whatsoever (I) do in word or deed, (I will) do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.”  In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Note:  These prayers of petition can easily be turned into prayers of intercession.  If God’s children, early in the morning, feel like it or not, we are to engage in the aforementioned repetitious review, what manner of person would they be “in all holy conversation and godliness,” and in intercessory power with God?  Much trying to live the Christian life and little prayer is hard work and hardly works.  Let us be up and at it with the dawn in our eyes.

General Purpose

(Resolution)

Titus 1:2   in the hope of eternal life which God, who does not lie, promised before eternal ages,

Rom. 15:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

IJn.5:14 And this is the confidence that we have before him: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

I Thess. 4:15   For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who remain until the Lord’s coming, will not possibly precede those who have fallen asleep.

Jn.17:24  “Father, those whom you have given to me—I want that those also may be with me where I am, in order that they may see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

Formula

I shall endeavor, with God’s help, and for His glory, to manifest and encourage, by teaching, and by example, “truth which is after godliness,” and “through the power of the Holy Spirit,” and under His constant control, to utilize, with full ability, every opportunity to bear the abiding “fruit of the righteous,” and “of the Spirit,” and, from the center of God’s will, to pray “according to His will” both for self, and for others, until momentarily , my Lord comes again for me in life, or I behold His glory in death.
